Our new chemical impact calculator, the Chemiculator™, was introduced in June, 2024. Here's how it works.
The Chemiculator™ is the foundation for an expanding water calculation system we are building at Orenda. First released in June 2024, it is phase one of three. This article briefly explains how to use it and what it does.
What does the Orenda Chemiculator™ do?
The Chemiculator™ allows users to figure out the chemical impact that a given amount of a specific product will have on their pool. For example, "How much calcium hardness will 50 pounds of calcium chloride add to my pool?"
This is different from our current Orenda Calculator™, which displays real-time LSI calculations and chemical dosing based on ppm change. The current calculator allows users to select a current ppm level and figure out exactly how much is needed to attain a desired ppm level.
This chemical impact calculator uses the same math (but in reverse). Instead of calculating ppm to ppm difference, this allows users to select an amount of a product and discover its ppm impact.
How to use the Orenda Chemiculator™
- Open the Orenda app > main menu > Chemiculator
- If you are not already logged into the Orenda App, sign in or create a free account to continue. Once logged in, proceed to step 3.
- If your pool volume is not already auto-populated (for homeowners), input the pool volume at the top. Select your unit of measurement (US or Metric).
- To learn more about the Chemiculator™, tap the question mark (?) help icon at the top right for a popup explainer.
- Push the button to [+ Add New], and select the chemistry you are looking to change. The options are:
- Chlorine
- Alkalinity
- Calcium
- Salt
- Cyanuric Acid
- Select the specific product (and concentration %), then adjust the dials to select the amount of that product you want to use.
- At the bottom of the window, the Chemiculator™ will show you the chemical impact that amount of product will have on your pool, based on your pool volume.
Note, in phase 1 (June 2024), we do not yet have pH impacts of these products. We hope to have these out in phase 2.
You can go back and change the product within the chemistry category by pressing the edit icon (✎). For instance, to change from trichlor to liquid chlorine (both are within the chlorine category), you can use this edit button to go back.-
- To add another product, press the button underneath the window [+ Add New] to add up to three products.
- To delete a product, press the red trash icon and then push [+ Add New].
